The Veronicas

The Veronicas are an Australian rock duo from Brisbane, Australia. They were formed in 2005 by identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso. In 2005 the Veronicas released their debut studio album, titled ''The Secret Life of...'' which peaked at No. 2 on the Australian charts and gained an Australian ARIA certification of 4x platinum for 280,000+ sales. The album spawned five singles, led by "4ever", three of which were top ten singles in Australia. In 2007, the duo released their second studio album, ''Hook Me Up'', which also peaked at No. 2 on the Australian charts and earned an Australian ARIA certification of 2x platinum for 140,000+ sales. The album garnered four Australian top ten singles. The album's title track, "Hook Me Up", was the Veronicas' first No. 1 single in Australia,〔(The Veronicas- "Hook Me Up" ) MTV Iggy〕 while "Untouched" was an international top ten hit. Following a lengthy hiatus (broken only by the July 2012 release of the Top 40 single, "Lolita" and by various gigs for their fans), the Veronicas released "You Ruin Me", the first single from their self-titled third album in September 2014. The song released at number 10 on the ARIA Charts, becoming the girls' second chart topping single and their first to debut in the top spot. It also charted in America and Britain. ''The Veronicas'' was released online and in CD format on 21 November 2014.
==Background==
The twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso were born on 25 December 1984. From 1989, the girls performed as the Origliasso Twins. When they were teenagers, they wrote teen pop songs under the name Lisa & Jessica. In 2001, they made their first recordings with Brisbane producer, Stuart Stuart at Analog Heart Records. When they were 18, they formed an alternative rock band named Teal, releasing the single "Baby It's Over". They began collaborating with other songwriters. After they turned 19, the twins signed a production deal with Engine Room.
Meetings were then arranged with Warner Bros. Records in the USA in 2004. Seymour Stein and senior executives recognised that Bell had indeed discovered and developed a musical talent, signing them to a recording contract under the name the Veronicas. The contract with Warner Bros. Records/Sire America was reported as US$2 million.
